Lockbox

Lock a secret with a passphrase and send it as a link. Only someone with the passphrase can open it.

Open Lockbox

What it does

  • Write a password, an account detail or any short note, and lock it with a passphrase.
  • You get a link. The locked message is inside the link itself, so nothing is stored on this site or anywhere else.
  • The other person opens the link, types the passphrase and reads the message.

Your data

Locking and opening happen in your browser: AES-256-GCM, with the key made from your passphrase by PBKDF2-SHA-256 (600,000 rounds). The part of a link after the # sign is not sent to the server.

Take care

Send the link one way and the passphrase another way. A short or common passphrase can be guessed by trying many, so use four or more random words.
